Our Philosophy

While every child may not possess the desire to become a professional dancer, we believe that quality dance training of a professional caliber will ultimately benefit students of any skill level and at any age. Even the recreational dancer will gain all of the benefits offered by a top-rate dance education program. Websters dictionary contains two definitions of the word professional. The first definition reads thus: Earning one's living from a sport or other activity. The second definition provides that a professional is a person who does something with great skill. The fact remains that if a person can be trained to perform using great skill, then that person should be capable, if he or she so chooses, of becoming a professional in accordance with Websters first definition of that word.

At California DanceArts, we believe that professional training offers each dance student the opportunity to pursue a career in dance. This caliber of dance instruction breeds dancers who in turn contribute to the cultural enhancement of our community with an enlightened appreciation of artistic skill. While the recreational student may not pursue a career in the dance world, such person may one day have the good fortune of serving on the board of directors of a professional dance company. With high quality training and artistic performance opportunities, each student learns to develop and possess, even at a very young age, grace and poise, good posture, a strong and sound work ethic, artistic skill and a life-long love of dance, regardless of his or her chosen career path. Most students, however, have a dream or vision to fulfill relating to their accomplishments in the dance world. One dream might be as simple as enjoying a new and fun experience or to someday dance in a brand- new pair of Pointe shoes. Still others dream of teaching or performing as a working professional in ballet companies, movies or music videos. We are fortunate that we live in a world where dreams can be uniquely varied to fit each individual's passion. In today's complex and competitive world, professional-quality dance training must commence at a young age and should continue with a progressive program as students mature, giving these young dancers the advantage necessary to accomplish their dreams in the field of dance.

With the support of both an encouraging group of instructors and like-minded peers as well as opportunities provided by our affiliate non- profit performing company, the dance students of California DanceArts are given the tools necessary to achieve and accomplish their dreams for the future.
